The Artist in our Midst Studio Tour exhibition and sale will take place at the Roundhouse Community Centre on May 16 from 10 am-10 pm. This event is also celebrating the 20th anniversary of Artists in our Midst and admission is free.
There will be an opening reception from 7-10 pm. Over 50 artists are taking part in the exhibit and sale. Genres of art include paintings, ceramic, jewellery and photography. It will be an excellent chance for the general public to see what is current in the Vancouver art scene.
Companies who are looking for art to decorate theirs business premises will be interested in the exhibit and sale. Supporting the local arts shows that a company cares about the culture of their community and often makes people more likely to buy their products or services. They can further help Vancouver artists by working with a local printing company to create a flyer to let their customers know about their latest company news and about this event and the subsequent Studio Walk. Again, it shows their commitment to helping the arts in their community.
The exhibition and sale will be followed by the Open Studio Walk from May 19-21. This will open up local studios to the public to view the process and the environment in which the artists work. Artists taking part in the walk include Doug Kennedy, Zohar Fiszbaum, Olga Campbell, Glenda Leznoff and Janet Strayer. Getting “up close and personal” with the artists will create a better understanding of their work and what motivates them to in their artistic pursuits.
