Celebrate World Autism Awareness Day in Vancouver

The Canucks Autism Network Family Festival will be held at the Jack Poole Plaza of the Vancouver Convention Centre on April 1 from 10am - 3pm. Admission is free. The Canucks Autism Network’s mission is to “spread awareness and acceptance in order to build more inclusive, supportive communities.”

The day will start off with the “lighting of the cauldron” to celebrate World Autism Awareness Day. There will be lots of family activities, live entertainment, food, and special guests. There will also be an autism walk. Those who take part in the autism walk form a team and collect pledges from friends, co-workers ,and strangers. The team that raises the most amount are eligible for prizes; the top individual fundraiser receives a team autographed Vancouver Canucks jersey and hockey stick, the top team fundraisers win a behind the scenes day with the Vancouver Canucks.

If you wish to take part in the autism walk, you can form a team with your friends or co-workers. It would be the perfect team building exercise for your employees to take part in the autism walk. It is suggested that teams should have no more than 20 members; your company can either form several teams or form one and have everyone pledge to help the team. The employee who gets the most number of pledges can be recognized by the company in some way. For example, Vancouver printing companies can help you design a certificate suitable for framing. That certificate can be displayed in a public area of the company for all to see.
