Staff of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s British Columbia branch held their 28th annual Food Bank Day, in support of collection facilities throughout the province.
The downtown Vancouver television and radio studios were open to members of the public, who came through for an in-person look at how news shows and other programs are produced.
The radio station did three live Radio One broadcasts, and there were live bands and special guests throughout the day, including broadcast personality George Stroumboulopoulos.
The television studios were also open to the public, and those who came out were treated to a chance to check out the equipment for themselves, including teleprompters and green screen technology. Reporters, producers, and news hosts were on hand to meet with people, share stories, and answer their questions.

Donations could be made in person, online, or over the phone, and as of the close of the event on the Saturday night, $530,079 had been raised. This will be distributed to food banks throughout the province to help them meet the needs of those in their community who depend on them.
