Canopy highlights printers using green paper policies

Canopy has posted a new printer leadership list which highlights those companies that follow the

“best practices in implementing an environmental paper policy”

Several Print companies in the Vancouver area are on this list.

Canopy is a watchdog group that has been working for 11 years to protect the world’s forests by helping Print companies and paper producers to adopt green practices. These green practices include following the Ancient Forest Friendly (AFF) paper policies. Those policies include not using paper products obtained from ancient or endangered forests, promoting forest conservation, maximizing the use of recycled content paper, a preference for using Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified papers and supporting the development of non-wood papers.

Local companies on this list appear because of their leadership in promoting green products. For example, it is possible for printing firms to use wheat-based paper.

The use of green technology is most certainly the way of the future and most printing firms will use environmentally friendly inks and toners and paper when asked. Even with constant replanting of trees, our forests are being depleted at an alarming rate. It only makes sense that we find alternative sources for paper products. With all the talk of a paperless society, our world still uses an inordinate amount of paper and this does not seem likely to change in the next decade.

While some specific companies were mentioned on this list, all Print companies in Vancouver are constantly striving towards adopting greener practices.
