Vancouver workshop to offer outdoor safety tips

Anyone who has spent time in the great outdoors knows that being safe is key to having a great time, and an online workshop is set to give Vancouver residents the knowledge and skills they need to enjoy themselves safely outdoors.

“Survive Outside: A Guide to Outdoor Safety” is a virtual workshop that has been developed by AdventureSmart, and it will be a presenter-led experience. It is suitable for youth groups, budding outdoor enthusiasts and anyone else who feels it is of interest to them, and all ages can participate.

The registrants will receive a wealth of tips and other information. Trip planning, the essentials that should be part of every excursion and training will all be discussed, as will the role of the local Search and Rescue (SAR) service. The instructor will be well seasoned in wilderness safety, and the workshop is scheduled to run for approximately one and a half hours.

Offering the public an opportunity to be included in a workshop like this is one way a community can protect the public. Although offered online, Stationery printers will be able to prepare certificates that can be sent to each registrant that indicate they have successfully participated in the session.

The Survive Outside presentation will be hosted through Zoom on December 2nd. The final time at which registrations will be accepted is 12:00pm on that date, and it will begin at 6:30pm.
