There are many ways to be a good environmental citizen, and an opportunity to do so will be popping up at a Vancouver venue in mid-September.
The Society Promoting Environmental Conservation (SPEC) has teamed up with the city of Vancouver to offer the public a Repair Café. It will be held at the Britannia Community Centre, and there will be no admission fee charged.
The activity, which may help to keep items out of area landfills, will see community volunteers use their knowledge and skills to repair an assortment of items that are brought in. Attendees may be invited to get involved with the repairs, and this will help them learn how to fix their own items at home. Those who are interested can book a time slot, and it has been requested that each household only bring one broken time to fix. Attendees will be asked to indicate which category their repair falls under when they register. As coffee will be served, everyone is reminded to bring along a mug.
Organizers will be able to order waivers, Business Cards and other custom materials for a function like this from local Print professionals.
Britannia Community Centre will be providing space for the Repair Café on Saturday, September 14th. It will be held from 9:30am to 1:30pm, and its Eventbrite listing includes the opportunity to book a time slot.
