Whether they save them themselves or have simply bought too many from a commercial seed house, a seed swap planned for Vancouver will allow its gardeners to connect with their fellow local green thumbs.
The Community Seed & Plant Swap will kick off the spring planting season for the city, and it is being held thanks to the efforts of the Vancouver Urban Food Forest Foundation. Everyone is welcome, whether or not they have seeds or plants to exchange, and all skill levels are encouraged to come out.
The plan is for the seed swapping table to be set up indoors, while the swapping stations for the plants will be located outside. This may need to be adjusted in case of inclement weather. There will be a special area just for the kids, and the adults will be able to meet other gardeners, share their knowledge and enjoy a day out.
The seed swapping movement has become quite popular, with events held in many communities all across the world. A brochure printing company can be called on to prepare materials that provide information about such initiatives.
The Community Seed & Plant Swap will offer a chance for local gardeners to score some seeds on March 18th. It will run from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at Burrard View Park, and all ages are welcome to join the fun.
