Former students, families, staff and community supporters of a Vancouver school are invited to be part of a special event marking its centennial, and it will be held this fall.
For the past 100 years, Shaughnessy Elementary School, which was formerly known as the Prince of Wales Elementary and High School, has provided an education to Vancouver kids. The school’s Centennial Committee has put together a day that will be filled with fun and a chance to revisit memories and create new ones.
The celebration will kick off with an opening ceremony at 10:30am, and after this, the schedule of entertainment and activities will continue until 4:30pm.
Attendees will be treated to performances by the Coastal Wolf Pack as well as the Vancouver Police Pipe Band, the PW Band and the Shaughnessy Choir. A show and shine car show has been included in the day, as has a fashion show that will showcase styles through the past ten decades. Students will be leading school tours, and a variety of centennial Promotional Products will be on offer in the tuck shop.
When it’s time for a bite to eat, guests can enjoy a cold glass of lemonade from one of the student led stands, and food trucks will also be serving up an assortment of snacks and other food. A tea room and beer garden have also been planned.
