A play that showcases Newfie hospitality is set to take to the stage in Vancouver, and it promises to be an experience that will leave the audience smiling.
The Queen Elizabeth Theatre will soon be treating the public to a performance of “Home From Away”, which tells the story of how Gander, a small community in Newfoundland, welcomed thousands of passengers who had their plane diverted on 9/11. The play has won several awards and was designated as a New York Times Critic’s Pick.
The play will run for 13 days, and tickets are on sale now. The audience members can expect to find their toes tapping along to its musical score and be inspired at how people from all over the globe overcame language and cultural barriers and came together to support one another until they could return home.
