Community spirit is behind event on the agenda for a Vancouver neighbourhood this summer, and the organizers are hoping that there will be a big turnout of people to lend a hand.
Those who register for the Woodland Neighbourhood Cleanup Party will be cleaning up litter and other debris, and the goal is for them to have fun doing it. While they work, they will have a chance to meet their neighbours and make some new friends who also care about their community.
The volunteers will meet at 1977 Commercial Drive, and are reminded to wear clothing appropriate for both the weather and the task at hand. At 10:00 am, they will head out for the cleanup using the Bags, gloves and pick up tongs that will be provided to them. The event has been planned by the Grandview Woodland Community Policing Centre, and all ages are encouraged to do their part to keep their neighbourhood looking its best.
An initiative like this can offer many benefits for both the participants and the city as a whole. Providing the volunteers with certificates of thanks from Stationery printers can show them that their efforts are appreciated.
This chance for the public to get involved in some grass roots level environmental stewardship will be taking place on August 3. The city’s website can be consulted for additional information.
