After Halloween, many pumpkins end up being thrown in the trash, but a Vancouver event will give them one last chance to shine.
The Nelson Park Pumpkin Parade 2021 will wrap up the Halloween season with one final hurrah, and everyone is welcome to bring their jack-o'-lantern to add to the display. They will be lit up by flameless candles, which will be supplied, and the celebration will be held rain or shine.
The families that come to the procession will be able to view the pumpkins that were in use this year, and once the function has wrapped up, they will be collected and composted to produce strong flowers and vegetables. It is free to participate, and everyone is encouraged to come along with their neighbours.
The Pumpkin Parade is part of a national initiative set up by Park People, which works to encourage local residents to enjoy their community’s green spaces. The Nelson Park edition is being hosted by Young Ideas, with support from both Gordon Neighbourhood House and Park People. A poster printing company can be a useful resource to those who are planning an event like this, as it will be able to offer a variety of promotional materials.
The Nelson Park Pumpkin Parade will be giving jack-o'-lanterns one last moment in the spotlight on November 1st. It will begin at 5:00 pm and run until 7:00 pm.
