An interest in animals is common among kids, and a summer camp week for Vancouver youngsters who are hearing impaired will include plenty of interaction with their furry friends.
Burnaby’s Provincial Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (PDHHS) provides a variety of supports to the area’s hearing-impaired community, and one of those is its Animals and the Outdoors summer day camp series. There are four full days on the agenda, and its intended age group is kids from ages five to ten.
The camp has been planned to include hands-on learning and interactions with an assortment of animals, and visits to local parks and other green spaces are on the agenda. The organizers explained that they are hoping to be able to provide an on the farm experience for the campers, and guest speakers are also in the works so that the participants can learn while they enjoy themselves.
