Each February, Valentine’s Day sees Vancouver couples celebrate their relationship. Humans are not the only ones who will be taking the opportunity to build a connection, and local nature lovers are welcome to find out more.
February is mating season for the owls that call the city’s Pacific Spirit Regional Park home, and love will be in the air. An “adults only” outing will give the public an opportunity to learn more about these birds of prey, as well as their habits and the roles they play in their ecosystem.
While the participants enjoy an evening walk, they will be listening for the sounds of owls in love. According to the organizers, they can expect to hear hoots, cackles and lots of other calls, and with some luck, they may even be able to spot one of these feathered friends in their natural habitat.
Tickets to participate in “Owl Prowl” are $8.50 each, and a discount is available for those who are 65 and older. Offering the public community guides that include listings of activities like this can make it easier for them to plan for the season, and Print shops will be able to prepare them.
This group of local nature lovers will be paying a visit to Pacific Spirit Park’s owls while learning more about them on February 7. The registrants have been asked to meet at 16th Avenue Entrance before heading out.
