The residents of Richmond are preparing to celebrate the area’s rich mix of people and businesses with two events coming to the area next month.
The Lantern Festival is a presentation of the Thompson Community Association and will feature a light procession and a drumming circle. Guests will also have the chance to make their own lantern.
Culture Days, which takes place in a number of cities and towns throughout Canada every year, will offer a wide variety of educational, art, and cultural activities at various venues throughout Richmond. Activities on offer will include Chinese folk dancing at the Minoru Activity Place, a Youth Art Mart, and an exploration of Chinese painting.
The Textile Arts Guild will be hosting an open house as part of the festival and will also present a fabric postcard exhibition. There will be lots of activities to take part in, including a kid's craft table, a Quil-doku design board and a number of art demonstrations.
Richmond Print companies have likely been contacted to help the organizers of these events prepare. This might include investing in poster and postcard printing services to help spread the word.
The Lantern Festival will take place at the Thompson Community Centre on September 21 from 6:30pm-8:30pm; admission is free.
The Culture Days events are taking place from September 27-29. Folk dancing at Minoru Activity Place will be held on the first day from 4:30pm-6:30pm. Events at the Textile Art Gallery will take place on September 28 from 10:00am-3:00pm. More information can be found on the Culture Days website.
