Richmond workshop to give scoop on succulents

Richmond gardeners who would like to get the insider's scoop on plants that tend to be easy to cultivate and care for will be able to do so when they take a seat for an expert-led activity.

Gary Lewis will be sharing his knowledge of succulents and how to keep them healthy and happy. These fleshy leaved plants are often adapted to tough growing conditions, and the function is free to attend.

During the presentation, Gary will discuss various species of succulents that are well suited to the home gardener, and options for indoors and will be reviewed. He will explain how some are hardy enough to be grown outside year round, as well as where they originated, and their biology will be on the agenda. Tips for incorporating them into a landscape design will be shared with the group, and everyone will find out why growing them in containers can help to keep their growth tidy and under control.

Spring can be a busy time of the year for most gardeners, but many will be happy to spend a few minutes learning some new skills in a presentation or workshop. Handouts for a learning session can be prepared by Stationery printers.

This introduction to the value of succulents to the home horticulturalists will begin at 7:00 am on May 30th. It will be on offer at the Brighouse Branch of the Richmond Public Library.
