Not everyone in the world has access to a clean, reliable source of water, and a Richmond fundraiser will help bring this essential substance to children in Africa.
Those who lace up their sneakers for the Stevenson Walk for Water will be helping to ensure that students at Nyamabaare Primary School have clean water to drink. The organizers have explained that many of these kids have to walk several kilometres every day just to get water for their family, which reduces the amount of time they spend in school.
Acts for Water and Richmond Sunrise Rotary will co-host the activity, and all ages are welcome. Participants will walk three kilometres, which is the typical distance that students at the African school must walk each day to provide water for their family. There is no registration fee, but anyone who would like to make a donation to the cause is most welcome to do so
Raising awareness is often a major part of an event like this, and a banner printing company will be able to help. It can provide Banners, Signs and other items to catch the public’s attention, informing them of why participants are walking.
The Stevenson Walk for Water will welcome Richmond individuals and families on September 12th. Its starting point will be located at Garry Point.
