What's Happening in Richmond, BC…

Richmond has earned a reputation for being a community that cares about the environment, and residents are being asked to roll up their sleeves to help tackle a local project.

Members of the public who sign up for the Iona Beach Adventure Clean Up Challenge will help to remove styrofoam litter and other debris from the shore. It’s a somewhat remote and slippery location, so sturdy shoes and careful step are needed to take on the task.

It’s advised that anyone who volunteers for the project should bring a windproof jacket and gloves, and hat and sunscreen may also be helpful. This clean-up crew will back the trash they collect and take it back to the local waste treatment facility for proper disposal. Once the work is done, this group of environmental stewards may go out for a bite to eat and celebrate a job well done.

This activity is intended for those who are 19 years of age and up, and there are enough spaces for up to seven people. Everyone who has a friend come along with them will have their name entered in a prize draw to thank them for their help.
