What's Happening in Richmond, BC…

The Richmond community is invited to upgrade their animation skills with multi-award-winning animator Michal Makarewicz.

The Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) Richmond Campus is a polytechnic institute in Richmond that will host the upcoming Animation Collaborative Masterclass.

The animation masterclass is designed to allow students to take their animation skills to the next level with 20-year Pixar veteran Michal Makarewicz teaching. The masterclass will include several in-depth discussions on a variety of topics, including acting and performance, facial mechanics and appeal, polish for feature films, timing, eyes and brows in animation, and more. On top of these discussions, there will also be several live demos, including a performance actor shot, physical shot and master spline example. The classes also have dedicated time for questions and answers, so be prepared to ask those burning questions.

Part of what makes masterclasses so powerful, in addition to the learning experience, is the chance to network with others with a similar passion. Often, leading up to events like this, professionals will invest in updated business card printing and showcase some of their artwork within the design.

The Animation Collaborative Masterclass will take place on March 7th and 8th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the KPU Richmond Campus, located at 8771 Lansdowne Rd, Richmond. The event's website offers an early bird discount for those who register early.
