Richmond theatre groups offered access to grants

Gateway Theatre is offering grants up to $800 to performing artist groups interested in renting out the Richmond Theatre.

Groups will have until May 31 to apply for the small endowment fund grants, and must have an intent to rent the facilities at the playhouse, which is based on Gilbert Rd, between July 1 to June 30, 2016.

The grant program is accessible to performing artist groups to help support with a variety of entertainment fees, such as production costs, professional and prominent performers, educational costs, apprenticeship fees, and special expenses.

The grant is not offered for rental and capital costs or standard operating expenditures except under special circumstances, according to the theatre’s website.

Primary consideration will focus on groups that are based in the Richmond area that will be performing to the general public between the dates offered.

A local committee consisting of the Gateway Theatre Board and staff members, as well as affiliates from Richmond’s performing arts society, will determine grants.

Theatres and performing artists can benefit from reputable printing companies for all their printing needs, such as flyer and poster printing, which can inform the community of upcoming shows.

Community groups interested in applying can go directly to the Gateway Theatre’s website to apply. The venue is the second largest theatre company in the Metro Vancouver area.
