Richmond residents encouraged to Move for Health this May

The Move for Health Festival is taking place in Richmond in May. It will be the last in a series of events held in the city to mark Move for Health week; the goal of which is to raise awareness about the benefits of living a healthy life.

The festival is presented by several groups and organizations, including Vancouver Coastal Health, the Richmond School District, and the Richmond Fitness and Wellness Association. It will open with an address from Richmond Mayor Malcolm Brodie; this will be followed by the official launch of Move for Health Day. There will be plenty of food vendors, performances from groups such as the Richmond Youth Dance Company and the Tropicana Steel Band, strolling entertainers and interactive activities like the Participation playmobile. Community health and wellness organizations will also be there to provide information on their programs and services.

It is very likely that the organizations that wish to provide information to the public will be working with Richmond printing companies to prepare for the festival. This might include investing in services such as flyer and brochure printing. A small brochure can go a long way when it comes to informing the public; it is also easy enough for visitors to put into a purse or pocket and take home to share with others.

Move for Health Week takes place from May 6-10. The Move for Health Festival itself will take place at Minoru Stadium on May 10 from 6:00 - 8:00pm; admission is free. More information can be found by calling the City of Richmond at 604-204-8629.
