Richmond public works to host open house

Richmond’s system of public works is often in the background, but thanks to a special public event, it will open its doors to the public, offering a behind-the-scenes look.

Mid-May will see the return of the Public Works Open House initiative, and it is part of the larger Public Works Week. Along with providing an insider’s view of the infrastructure, it will provide a tip of the hat to the staff who keep it all running throughout the year.

The community is invited to stop by and visit the various booths that will be onsite, and they will be manned by representatives of Richmond’s Engineering, Water Services, Sewage and Drainage, Roads and Construction and other departments. They can ask questions and meet the staff in person. The kids in the crowd can enjoy the hands on cement display, view the heavy equipment and spend time in the play area, and refreshments will be on offer for purchase. Promotional Products are sometimes distributed at events like this.

The venue is accessible to those who require a mobility aid such as a wheelchair, and other accommodations may be available as well. The site can be reached by public transit, and a bike rack will be available.

This year's Public Works Open House will be held in Richmond on May 13th. It can be found at 5599 Lynas Road.
