Richmond offers spooky undersea experience

A Richmond historic venue will be getting a spooky makeover in time for the Halloween season, and it will offer an under-the-sea-themed experience.

The Gulf of Georgia Cannery’s Haunted Sea initiative will run from late September until early November, and it will introduce some of the ocean’s most unusual inhabitants. Regular admission rates apply, and as the venue may be chilly, everyone is advised to dress appropriately.

The exhibit will whisk attendees to the bottom of the sea to enjoy viewing fluorescent sea creatures made using upcycled materials. Black lighting will be utilized, and while they go through the displays, everyone will be able to learn about the real creatures that call the oceans home and the conservation efforts being made to protect them.

Attendees will receive an activity booklet and will be able to take part in the Haunted Sea Scavenger Hunt. Booklets and other handouts for initiatives like this can be crafted by area Stationery printers. The activity is intended to be enjoyed by the whole family, and there will be photo opportunities as well as other fun to be had.

The Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site will be showcasing the sea’s spooky side with its the Haunted Sea from September 27th until November 2nd. It will be open from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm, and regular admission rates apply.
