Richmond launches community challenge

Known for its active community, the city of Richmond is launching another challenge to encourage the community to stay active.

The city of Richmond has previously won awards for how active the community is, including the British Columbia Most Active Community award, in part due to facilities like the Thompson Community Centre, which helps keep community members active throughout the year and will be hosting the upcoming Community Challenge Kick-Off Event.

The Richmond Community Challenge Kick Off Event is meant to bring the community together to celebrate and encourage physical activity. This family-friendly event will have a variety of community booths designed to educate residents on the different resources available. Whether attendees are looking to just put up some information or build up a sweat by joining in the different group fitness and movement classes which will be taking place throughout the event, everyone of all shapes, sizes and ages is welcome. The kick-off event will also feature local food trucks for those who build up an appetite when at the event.

Community education events will often have brochure printing handouts at different booths to make it easier for attendees to grab information about the different services available.

The Community Challenge Kick Off Event will take place on Jun 7, 2025 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Thompson Community Centre located at 5151 Granville Ave, Richmond.
