Richmond girls to get lesson in parliamentary style politics

An invitation has been extended to girls from Richmond and the surrounding communities to attend an event that will give them an introduction to the world of parliamentary government.

Camp Parliament will provide an opportunity for participants to learn about the nation’s system of governance while honing their leadership skills. They will also learn about other countries that also use a parliamentary system. The camp will draw t o a close with the girls staging mock a government session where they will propose a motion, engage in debate and vote to pass proposed legislation so that it becomes law.

Each girl who takes part will be given a certificate of completion at the end of the day. A printer can use its Stationery printing technology to create items like these for use in special events

The fee to take part in the event, which has been organized by the Girls in Politics Initiative, is $160.00 each. Those who are Girl Guides members and groups will be offered a reduced rate. The price includes a lunch and all of the course materials.
