Richmond gardeners offered online learning opportunity

Flower gardeners are encouraged to be on the guest list for an online workshop hosted by a Richmond area botanical garden.

VanDusen Gardens has created a schedule of online seminars, and its “Grow Your Own Cut Flowers” event will have lots to offer. Those who take part will find out how they can fill their beds with colour throughout the gardening season, and both perennials and annuals will be included.

During the workshop, the learners will discover how they can stagger their seed sowing to extend the bloom period, and companion planting is also on the agenda. There will be a discussion of how to choose the right variety of flowers for a particular location, and colour selection and texture will be considered. It will have lots to offer those who would like to grow flowers to make their own arrangements, and the registration price for the function is $22.

An activity like this provides a way for both new and experienced gardeners to brush up on their knowledge and skills. Advertising it in community guides will help the public to know where and when it will be held, and these sorts of publications can be ordered from a local printing services provider.

The Grow Your Own Cut Flowers event will begin at 10:00am on April 17th. Further details about the function can be found on its online listing.
