Those who work in B.C. fishing sector work hard all year round, and this holiday season, fishers from all across the province will be hosting a fundraising event in support of kids fighting cancer.
This annual Richmond fundraiser gives the public an opportunity to support pediatric cancer patients and their families while enjoying a feed of freshly caught herring. The fish will be coming straight from the Gulf of Georgia, and the proceeds will then be donated to the BC Children’s Hospital.
This volunteer-run event has been offered for the past several years, and so far, it’s been able to raise over $550,000. All of the monies raised are donated to the cause, and thanks to the support of community volunteers, the organizers of the function have been able to keep the cost of running the fundraiser to a minimum.
This type of event can be a big success, and with some help from a company that crafts Corporate Gifts, the activity can also be fun. It can provide tokens, such a volunteer T-shirt, name tags, lanyards, and even Booklets that give recipes and other tips so that those who purchase a pail of fish will have lot of ways to make good use of it.
This year’s Herring Sale will be filling tables and freezers with freshly caught fish on December 3. The pickup point for the seafood can be found at 12740 Trites Road.
