Richmond is well known for its agricultural sector, and one of its top crops will be taking pride of place in an event that celebrates everything garlic.
Along with honouring this well-loved herb, there will be lots of high-flying raptor fun in an event to be hosted by The Sharing Farm.
Those who attend the 11th Annual Richmond Garlic Festival will be invited to honour this popular bulb. Local growers will have several varieties of garlic on offer, and there will be lots of other activities for the entire family to enjoy.
A farmers’ market that features locally grown produce will be set up for the day, and area restaurants have been invited to participate. Many will be on site offering samples of how garlic can be used in a variety of dishes. A kids zone has been planned, and farm tours and live music have also been incorporated in the agenda.
Along with all of the garlic-themed fun, there will be a demonstration that will see live birds of prey take to the sky. The gourmands in the crowd can sit in on a culinary workshop, and the festivities will run from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm.
