The 4th annual Steveston Farmers and Artisans Summer Market opened on May 20 and it will run until September 30. The market takes place at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery every other Sunday from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm, with the exception of July 1.
The market offers a range of goods such as local produce, local meats, homemade jams and jellies, natural beauty products, baked goods, homemade honey products, artisan breads, and cheese. It also features music and other entertainment, children's activities, chef demonstrations, food concessions, product vendors, and arts and crafts vendors.
Those interested in becoming vendors must apply to the market organizers. Fees for regular food and product vendors are $390 for the entire season or $40 per day, with those paying per day asked to commit to a minimum of six weeks. Fundraising booths from non-profit organizations are free. Artisan vendors can rent a booth for 10 weeks and, depending on the size of their table, this will cost them for $400 or $800. Alternatively, they can pay $50 per day.
Richmond printing companies can help the vendors set up their booth and tables by providing banner printing and brochure printing services. Renting a booth at the Steveston market is a great opportunity for local artists to increase their customer base and to introduce their handmade arts and crafts to a wide variety of people. Organizations that rely on public donations to operate will also find they will receive lots of support from passers-by and will have the perfect chance to educate the public about the work they do.
