Business Excellence Awards accepting nominations

The 34th annual Business Excellence Awards, which are meant to showcase the "best of Richmond businesses”, is accepting nominations until September 16. These awards will be presented on November 23 at the River Rock Casino. Winning such an award will give a company a boost in prestige and noting that would be something they could add to the design of their next business Stationery printing run.

The Business Excellence Awards are presented by the Richmond Chamber of Commerce and the City of Richmond. There are 12 categories of award in which you can nominate businesses for:

• Young Entrepreneur – those who have been in business for at least a year and are under 40 are eligible
• New Business of the Year – open to a business that has been in operation less than 2 years
• Innovation Award
• Business of the Year 1-25 – for companies with less than 26 employees
• Business of the Year 26-75 – for companies with less than 76 employees
• Business of the Year 75+ - for companies with more than 75 employees
• Business Leadership Award – for a company that has made a positive contribution to the community
• Hall of Fame – this is an induction
• Newsmaker of the Year – this is an induction
• Outstanding Workplace
• Outstanding Customer Service
• Association of the Year – a not-for-profit organization that has shown innovation and leadership

These types of awards give the business community a chance to honour those businesses that go out of their way to make to be good corporate citizens. They are definitely good for business and the winners encourage others to follow their lead.
