Annual festival showcases Richmond's maritime history

The Richmond Maritime Festival is taking place next month, and is to be presented by City of Richmond - Special Events.

The festival will have interactive and historical exhibits, strolling performers who will entertain the crowds, a variety of treats for sale from food trucks, and two stages of entertainment. Musical acts performing include The Paperboys, The Tourist Company, The Myrtle Family Band, and The Fraser Valley Fiddlers. Additionally, the Rocku Shici Taiko drummers will be performing.

There will be entertainment for the kids from Rikki the Rat, Mermaid Tales, and a storyteller. Visitors will be able to take ship tours, view art installations and take part in interactive crafts, such as a knit-in and helping to build a driftwood mandala. Several community organizations will also be on hand to provide information about their programs and services, give demonstrations and perform other activities.

There is sure to be something happening at the festival to appeal to every member of the family. To encourage people to attend this annual Richmond festival, local Stationery printers may be asked to provide advertising materials like Flyers that can then be mailed out to area residents.

The Richmond Maritime Festival is being held at the Britannia Shipyards from August 8 to 9. Admission is free. To find out more about this festival, contact the City of Richmond at 604-276-4320.
