The feature exhibit, simply entitled “The Canucks: A History of Vancouver’s Team” features images dating back to the team’s days in the Western Hockey League in the 1950s and 60s. Many of the photos come from the collection of sports photographer Ralph Bower, who covered the team throughout all its various eras and changes, or are on loan from the Vancouver Sun photo archives. Bower’s work was innovative and lead to the adoption of new technologies, such as the camera inside the goalie’s net, which is now a regular feature during NHL broadcasts.
The gallery has also opened up its gift shop and bookstore. Such stores typically sell artistic prints and Books along with Promotional Products whose logo design represent the gallery and its exhibitions. Its future plans include the re-opening of the main gallery in early September with an exhibition called “Third Realm”, and a nature photography exhibit called “Chester Fields 2020: Global Warning” in August. The Polygon has said its mission is:
“Championing artists and cultivating engaged audiences. Its lens of inquiry creatively responds to shifting perceptions of the world, through the histories and evolving technologies of photography and related media.”
The Polygon Gallery officially re-opened on June 18, and will be open from Thursday to Sunday from 9am-3pm for the summer.Get a Free Quote for Promotional Products Get a Free Quote for Books
