Polish Festival back in North Van
The 2022 edition of Polish Festival Vancouver will be returning to North Vancouver this September to celebrate Polish culture and heritage.
The event will include music, singing and dancing from Polish culture, including Iskry, a Polish Folk Dance Ensemble hailing from Winnipeg, and Portland’s Zabavva, as well as music from other cultures, such as the North Shore Celtic Ensemble. The event typically features vendors, food stalls and attractions from across North Vancouver’s diverse community.
Vendors at festivals like these sometimes provide special promotional products to help win over year-long customers. There will also be activities aimed at children and families, including theatrical shows, crafts, face-painting and games. This year, a lottery will be raising money to help Ukrainian refugees.
The event is the eighth annual Polish Festival, with the event initially taking place at Lynn Valley Village before moving to the Shipyards. The festival will also be commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Belweder North Shore Polish Association, which organizes the event. Visitors will be able to take photos with a backdrop representing the ancient village of Zalipie, as well as obtaining T-shirts and other items representing the North Shore’s estimated 10,000-strong Polish-Canadian community. Traditional Polish food, such as sausages, pierogis and pastries, will also be on offer.
This year’s Polish Festival Vancouver will take place on September 4 at The Shipyards in North Vancouver, with admission free.
