The City of North Vancouver has voted to support House of Funk Brewing to extend their business hours, giving the city a potential new late-night venue.
The decision was unanimous. However, the business will still need an application to the British Columbia alcohol regulation board to be approved.
If successful, House of Funk will be able to stay open until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays and until midnight the rest of the week.
Since most of the nightlife options in the area close around 11, the later hours would help out area residents who otherwise have to travel out to other parts of Metro Vancouver to enjoy themselves later in the evening.
The brewery is part of The Shipyards Brewery District, which has received past noise complaints. Brewery co-founder Darren Hollett told council that the brewery would address potential noise concerns by using Signs to remind patrons to leave quietly and respectfully. Alternatively, poster printing could be a method used to relay important messages to patrons.
Hollett also noted that the extended hours could potentially help keep more patrons on the North Shore, rather than spending their money in other parts of the Lower Mainland.
It is unknown when the regulatory board will make its final decision on the brewery’s application to extend its hours. However, is approval is granted, North Vancouver residents can expect to enjoy the later nights at House of Funk right away.Get a Free Quote for Signs
