North Van native wins Sun Run

One of Canada’s largest road races took place this month, and in the end it was North Vancouver woman Natasha Wodak standing tall. She won the elite women’s division of the Vancouver Sun Run, finishing the 10-kilometre course in just 32 minutes and 38 seconds.

Wodak led from start to finish, beating runner-up Kinsey Middleton by eight seconds. At thirty-seven, she becomes just the second woman in the history of the event to win the race three times. She was coached by the other one, Lynn Kanuka, who won the event three years in a row between 1987 and 1989. Wodak is an experienced runner who competed in the Commonwealth Games last year, finishing fifth in the 10,000 metre race.

The Sun Run took place on April 14, and was the 35th annual edition of the race. The event is Canada’s largest race at this distance, and takes place on a scenic course that runs through Vancouver’s downtown and the famous Stanley Park. It is at the forefront of a surge of interest in outdoors events, many of which use poster printing and flyer printing to increase their presence in their community, and make people aware of what is going on.

For those who are a little slower than Wodak, there are race divisions for all experience and fitness levels.
