North Shore Art Crawl to highlight local culture

For the tenth year running, the streets of North Vancouver will be transformed into an open-air art gallery as the North Shore Art Crawl takes place this March.

The event will see over 280 local artists and artisans working in all types of media. Groups involved include the Back Alley Art Collective, Cityscape Community Art Space, and Delbrook Pottery Studio, alongside numerous individual artists. There will be a series of live events and activities, including workshops on drawing and painting, communal art-making, and gallery tours. Whatever their level of artistic skill, visitors can get a close look at or hands-on experience with sculpture, painting, graphic design, and more.

Two local artists, Norman Vipond and Sandrine Pelisser, started the North Shore Art Crawl. Similar ‘crawls’ around North America have been successful as a way for individual artists and artisans to exhibit their creativity and reach potential buyers.

Organizers of the event use map and brochure printing to help visitors locate particular artists or events. The 2018 edition of the North Shore Crawl saw over 16,000 visits, and organizers will be hoping to make the tenth edition the biggest yet.

The 2020 edition of the North Shore Art Crawl will take place on March 7 and 8. Events are scheduled around the cities of North Vancouver, West Vancouver and Lynn Creek, with Lower Lonsdale being one of the biggest concentrations.
