North Vancouver’s Black Kettle Brewing is launching a new collaboration brew to help support women in the beer industry.
Inspired by the recent International Women’s Day, the brew will be the product of a collaborative session between female Black Kettle employees and representatives of the Pink Boots Society, which helps promote female participation in the booming craft beer industry.
The beer will use a single malt and single hop process, with hops provided by Pink Boots to create a taste similar to a hazy IPA. The hops were selected through an online voting process and contain a mixture of tropical, herbal, citrus and woody flavours.
The new drink is spearheaded by Sarah Polkinghorne, the head brewer at Black Kettle. Polkinghorne majored in chemistry before deciding to turn her passion for brewing into a career. From each glass sold, $1 will go towards the Pink Boots Society’s efforts to provide education and encouragement to women looking to get into brewing. The society’s unique hops blend will also be available for purchase on its own, with $3 from each pound going to these initiatives.
When products like this are released, ensuring they have a bright logo design can help them stand out from options created by competitors.
Having been brewed on March 21, the special beer will be available in April.
