A North Vancouver art exhibit that highlights the history of food in photography will be concluding next month, hoping to leave art lovers with a lasting taste.
“Feast for the Eyes” is an exhibit at the Polygon Gallery that includes highlights of how artistic photography has captured food. Food has long been a popular subject of visual art and is frequently used in both commercial and artistic photography today, with high resolution pictures of dishes a staple of social media, flyer printing and advertisement. Feast for the Eyes aims to introduce audiences to the more high-brow and innovative Forms of photography.
The exhibit includes works by over 50 photographers, including historically important artists like Andy Warhol, T. R. Williams and Guy Bourdin, as well as modern masters such as Cindy Sherman, Jo Ann Callis and Nan Goldin. Feast for the Eyes is divided into three sections, each reflecting a different theme: “Still Life”, “Around the Table” and “Playing with Food”.
The exhibit has been accompanied by tours in multiple languages, along with Promotional Products, such as a book of the exhibit edited by Susan Bright. It has been featured at the gallery alongside installations like the Indigenous video exhibit “Response: Our Land Narrative”.
Feast for the Eyes will conclude its run at North Vancouver’s Polygon Gallery on May 31.
