This year, once again, Edmonton residents will have a chance to help those in need and have fun doing it.
The Second Annual Turkeys on the Train will collect turkeys and other foodstuffs for the 20,000 people who use the Edmonton Food Bank each month. The entry fee to participate is either one frozen turkey or another nonperishable food donation. Monetary contributions will also be gratefully accepted.
The event itself will be a run that follows a course that begins in Rundle Park. Participants can choose between a 5, 10 or 25 kilometre route that have all been planned to provide runners with a chance to experience the winter beauty of Edmonton’s river valley.
Once the race is over, there will be a celebration with refreshments, prizes and a chance for those who took part to socialize and have fun. A printer can create Signs and other items that can assist a charity event like this in helping as many people as possible.
The event will take place in Rundle Park on December 11 from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm. Since it will be taking place in the winter and there will likely be snow on the trail, people are strongly encouraged by the organizers to dress appropriately. Dogs are welcome to run with their owners, but must be leashed and may not enter the venue once the run is over.
