Edmonton will be showing its pride this summer with a new activity that will help to beat the summer heat.
The inaugural Edmonton Pride Float will give the LGBTQA+ community, as well as its friends and supporters, time to join together in the spirit of relaxation and fun. Everyone can bring along their favourite floatie, paddleboard, canoe, kayak or other non-motorized watercraft, and they are encouraged to decorate it in honour of the occasion.
The participants will be meeting up at the staging area, and they are reminded to make sure they have a life jacket, which must be worn when they are on the water. Everyone is asked to sign up in advance, and they will be treated to live entertainment during the celebration. The float is expected to take about two hours, and it is advised that anyone who has a small air pump bring it for their own use or to share with others who are inflating their crafts.
Before they will be able to participate in the activity, each attendee will need to sign a safety waiver. Documents like this can be prepared by area Stationery printers.
Anyone who would like to be part of the first ever Edmonton Pride Float can sign up to do so now, and it will be held on August 28th. The meeting area for the day will be the Terwillegar Boat Launch, located at 10 Rabbit Hill Road Northwest.
