Edmonton schools receive welcome news

Students, teachers and parents in Edmonton area schools that have overcrowded classrooms have just been given some good news.

The province has announced that 130 new portable modular classrooms will be delivered to schools throughout Alberta, with 26 slated to go to Edmonton. Sixteen will go to the Catholic school board, and the other 10 will go to public schools.

This step has been taken to help alleviate the overcrowding that currently exists in some local classrooms. The number of students enrolled in the area has jumped by 3,000 for the 2013-14 school year, which is the largest increase seen since 1969.

Each of the units will cost about $170, 000 to construct, and this doesn’t include the cost of delivery and set up.

These modular classrooms are very different from the ones many adults may remember from their days as a student. They are spacious, bright and airy, with plenty of large windows. They are also outfitted to be ready to use the latest of learning technologies.

It is hoped that the new building will be in place for the upcoming school year.

While these units have been built to provide pupils with comfortable learning spaces, Print companies can help to make them even better by providing colorful educational materials such as Banners, displays and other professionally printed items.
