This autumn, Edmonton will be playing host to an event that will give people a chance to enjoy themselves in Regency style.
The Pride and Prejudice Ball will see guests in period costumes enjoy dancing, refreshments and other activities that would have taken place during that time period. Guests can enjoy an evening of dancing or they can also have a meal beforehand, which will be prepared according to recipes that would have been use during the Regency Period. A professional photographer will be on hand to take portraits of couples.
According to the organizers, no dancing experience is necessary, and to help guests prepare for the event, they can sign up for dance lessons, or take part in a costume fair to be held on September 18. People can rent or purchase the clothes they will wear, and advice will be given on how to convert some of the clothing they already own so that it is appropriate for the occasion. A printer can prepare Banners and other decorations that would be suitable for an event such as this.
Those who wish to purchase tickets can do so through the function’s Eventbrite website. Tickets for the evening, which has been scheduled for October 23 at The Fairmont Hotel Macdonald, start at $60 each for the dance portion and $135 for those who would also like to have dinner.
Further details can be obtained by visiting the pride and Prejudice Ball’s Eventbrite listing.
