Edmonton Oilers fans recently got a chance to see their favourite players show off their talents at the team’s annual Oilers Skills Competition.
Formerly called ‘The Carnival of Champions’, the event has been taking place for many years. Most recently, it was held at the Rexall center and saw the roster split into the blue and the white teams, which gave the players a chance to demonstrate their abilities in areas where they don’t always get a chance to shine. Participants played against each other in a variety of challenges designed to test their individual skills.
The different challenges that the players took part in included puck control, one on one, and relay, as well as events that sought to find the participant with the hardest shot and the best shot accuracy.
The whites took an early lead over the blues, with the final score coming in at 19 to 12 in favour of the whites.
A sizeable crowd showed up for the competition, and cheered on their favourite players. According to the Edmonton Sun, many of them have been coming to the competition for several years, with some even going back as far as the ‘90s.
