Edmonton gives lowdown on composting

Creating a composting system need not be difficult, and an Edmonton workshop will offer an introduction to the practice.

Savvy Edmonton green thumbs know that compost can be one of the foundations of a beautiful garden, as it adds to the soil’s fertility while helping to reduce the amount of organic waste that ends up in local landfills.

The members of the public who register for the Basic Composting Workshop will all learn how they can easily compost at home. Along with this, they will discover the benefits of doing so and how it can be used to make the most from their or garden space.

This free event will discuss the secrets of successful composting, including which materials break down well, how to create an active blend and also what materials should not be added to the mix. They will also find out how, and why, to use it as a soil amendment.

The instruction will be taking place outdoors, so the participants are reminded to dress for the weather. The location offers free parking, and it can also be accessed by bike. Small Posters that offer composting advice can be crafted by a poster printing professional for an event like this, and these can put on people’s fridges or other locations in the kitchen.

The organizers of the Basic Composting Workshop noted that they will be offering the class on various dates throughout the summer months. It will be held at Compost ’S cool, which can be found on the River Loop Trail in Edmonton.
