While spring may be a highly anticipated time of year, it can also bring the unwelcome sight of trash in public places. As in years past, a hardy group on Edmonton residents recently got together to do something about it.
In the 27th annual River Valley Clean Up, 350 volunteers braved the cold and snow to come out and pick up trash and other litter. The event had to be pushed back by a day due to inclement weather conditions in the region.
Garbage collected ranged from old shopping carts to food wrappers and even Books.
Last year, clean up volunteers collected 3,607 Bags of trash and 155 cubic meters of other material for collection.
Lisi Monro, who is the program manager for Capital City Clean-up in Edmonton, explained how it’s important that this all be picked up before it gets into the river, where it will create an even bigger problem.
Projects like this not only help to beautify the city, but they can also help to build a sense of community among those who choose to take part. Print companies can help to make the event even more of a success by creating promotional materials that help spread the word to anyone who may be interested. They can also Print maps of the area, and other items that will let people know where their efforts are needed the most.Get a Free Quote for Books Get a Free Quote for Bags Get a Free Quote for Print
