Edmonton fans of fresh local produce, plants, crafts, and more are invited to the grand opening of this year’s Collingwood Farmers’ Market.
The market, which is both the original and the biggest in the city, will see more than 100 different vendors offering items for sale. These range from locally grown fruits, vegetables and herbs, to honey, baked goods and other prepared foods, as well as handcrafted items and plants for the garden.

Since it is the season’s grand opening, some special activities have been planned for the day. Live music will be playing, and activities for the kids such as a petting zoo, bounce castle, sparkle tattoos, face painting, and balloon twisting will also be offered. Along with the opportunity to purchase food and other goods, those who come out will be able to meet the farmers, craftspeople and entrepreneurs behind what they are buying. This can provide insight into where food comes from.
The event will take place at the Marketplace at Collingwood out in the area of covered courtyard and the parking lot, starting on May 1st at 10:00 am and running until 3:00 pm.
