The Edmonton Food Bank and the Edmonton Transit Service recently teamed up to hold another Stuff a Bus campaign, and reports have called it a success.
Volunteers from the Food Bank and the transit service worked together to collect donations of both non-perishable food and cash, and they were able to bring in 20,000 kilograms of food and $14,000.
This marks the first event of the Food Bank’s holiday fundraising season, with December being the most important month in the year for collecting donations. The Stuff a Bus event is always popular, and has been held each year since 1995.
Through the years, it has brought in 340,000 kilos of non-perishable items and $357,000 in monetary donations. Between this event and other initiatives, volunteers are hoping to collect 250,000 kilos of food and $1.3 million in cash. This will be used to help those who utilize the service every month to have nutritious meals.
A fundraising effort like this can be a fun way to raise both money and awareness, and a banner printing company can help. Professionals can produce a banner that can be used to decorate the outside of the bus, inviting people to stop by and find out more about what they can do to help fellow community members who are in need.
