An election is on the way for Camrose, and in an effort to help engage the public in the electoral process, an assortment of activities has been planned leading up to voting day.
Those who are interested in running for a position on the city council are invited to attend an event that has been planned with them in mind. An information session that will outline the role of both the mayor and city council will give more information about these jobs, answer questions and assist anyone who participates in deciding if being a member of their city’s government is a role they wish to take on.
The nomination day for those who are interested in running for local political office in this election will take place in September. Anyone who is interested in putting a name forward is asked to do so in the City Hall Committee Room between the hours of 10:00 am and 12:00 midnight on September 18. The election itself will take place in October, and six different polling stations will be set up throughout the community for members of the public to cast their vote. A local printer that crafts custom Stationery will be able to produce paper ballots and other materials that can be used during an event like this.
The information session will be held on September 6th, and the election itself has been scheduled for October 16. A full listing of the polling stations, as well as details about nominating a candidate and the voting itself, can be found on the city’s website.
