Camrose residents invited to show solidarity

Residents of Camrose are invited to join in an event that will not only raise funds, but will help to raise awareness and show support for those living with schizophrenia.

The Open Minds Walk and Run will see people of all ages come together to enjoy a full day of activities. Along with the run and walk, both breakfast and lunch will be served, there will be a silent auction, and people will have an opportunity to learn more about the lives of those for whom their support will make a big difference.

Members of the public are invited to come together with their coworkers, families and friends to form teams. A T-shirt decorating station will be set up during the day so that participants can design them to further show their solidarity with those who are living with this illness.

Those who are interested in taking part are required to register as an individual. They can do so online, where they can create a fundraising page and give details about why participating in this activity is important for them. Brochures are also available, and can be found online or at the local Schizophrenia Society of Alberta’s Camrose office.

The Open Minds Walk and Run will take place on August 27 at the Bill Fowler Information Center in Camrose, starting at 9:00 am. Further details can be found on the event’s website.
