Workshop welcomes Mother Nature to Calgary gardens

A workshop that will be filled with tips for welcoming Mother Nature into the garden is set to be hosted by the Southwood Community Association, and it will show how it's possible to bring a touch of wilderness to the heart of the city.

The Rewilding the Gardening learning session will introduce Calgary to a variety of ways that a home horticulturist can make their own property welcoming to birds, bees and other beneficial creatures, and it will be filled with practical tips. Hands-on learning is on the agenda, and there will even be a draw for gift cards for a local nursery and garden centre.

The workshop will offer an introduction to the principles of rewilding, and the participants will discover how to incorporate native plants into their landscape. Plant culture and care will be reviewed, and the importance of supplying food, water and shelter spaces will be discussed as well.

This event is open to all gardeners, and it may take place in person or online, depending on the current government directives in the province. Growing guides will help the attendees in this type of function to learn even more, and these can be prepared by local Print shops.

The Southwood Community Association has made arrangements to offer this activity on April 13th. It will be held either at 11 Sackville Drive Southwest or online.
