Wellspring Calgary lights up the night

Wellspring Calgary has kicked off its latest holiday fundraising campaign.

The group, which provides support and services to people living with cancer, will be setting up a light display to help let the public know that its fundraising efforts have begun. The display was constructed at Carma House, and hot chocolate was provided for those who came out. A booklet printing company can Print songbooks, coloring Books for the kids and a variety of other materials that both say thank you to those who participated and give more information about the organization and what it does.

Those who make a donation by the end of the year will have them matched, up to $25 million, thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor.

According to spokesperson Suzan Valenta, the funds will be used to help pay for programs that provide both information and education about navigating the journey one undertakes when they are diagnosed with cancer. They also offer courses in tai chi, yoga, meditation and other activities that can help to relieve the stress an ill individual may feel and allow them to relax.

Wellspring has various branches all across the country. Their programing is offered free of charge, and many of them are facilitated by volunteers. Anyone in Calgary who would like to have more information is invited to visit http://www.wellspringcalgary.ca/contact.asp or call 403.521.5292.
